Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, known professionally as Katy Perry, was born on October 25, 1984, in Santa Barbara, California. She began her singing career in her teens, performing in church and then releasing a gospel album at the age of 15. After moving to Los Angeles in her early 20s, she signed with a record label and released her debut pop album in 2008.
