Kerber's Last Stand in Paris

Angelique Kerber, the former world No. 1, has announced that the 2024 Paris Olympics will be her final professional tennis tournament. The three-time Grand Slam champion made the announcement after defeating Petra Martic at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

Kerber, 34, has had a successful career, winning three Grand Slam titles (the Australian Open in 2016, Wimbledon in 2018, and the US Open in 2016), a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and reaching the world No. 1 ranking in 2017. She has also been a consistent performer at the WTA Finals, reaching the final in 2016 and 2018.

In her announcement, Kerber said: "After much consideration, I have decided that the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will be my last professional tennis tournament. It has been an incredible journey and I am so grateful for all the experiences and memories I have made along the way."

Kerber's decision to retire is a blow to the tennis world, but it is also a testament to her longevity and success. She has been a role model for many young players and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
